'Say goodbye to your parking spot': Guy gets even with grumpy neighbor after he yells at guy's mother for violating his made up parking rule

It doesn't matter how old and grumpy your entitled male Karen neighbor may be. Make no mistake: he does not write the rules. As someone who cannot afford to live in a residential neighborhood, I can merely compare this incident to one that happened to me in a communal laundry room in my apartment building. When I first moved into what is now my current place, there was this older lady who claimed that I could not use one of the washing machines because "everyone knows that it's her machine." Even then, I rolled my eyes and waited for her to leave… and then I used the machine. You don't make the rules, lady!

  • This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/postcardscience, who initially accepted his grumpy neighbor's completely made-up parking rules until the neighbor accused  OP's mother of violating them. First of all, she hadn't but that's beside the point. OP could not handle the way the neighbor screamed at his mother, so he called up the authorities of the neighborhood and got the parking policy updated so that even the neighbor could not park where he desired. That's what you get, sir!

    Insult my mother? Say goodbye to your parking spot. My neighbor is a grumpy old man. He was the first person living on this street and he treats the street as his private property, and he parks his car on the street in front of his house. Next to his house is an elementary school. Every morning parents are dropping off kids and they briefly stop their cars somewhere on our street to do so.

    I was tolerating this behavior since it did not affect me personally, not my business. However, at one point my mother came to visit. As she was walking past his house, the neighbor comes flying out of the house screaming insults,

I think the neighbor thought that a car parked on the street in front of his house was hers, and when she said it was not her car, he accused her of not accepting responsibility, not respecting his authority etc. It got so bad that other passersby had to try calm him down before his threats would go from words to action. My mum said she has never been so insulted in her entire life.

    I decided that enough is enough. I petitioned to the authorities that the street was too narrow to allow two way traffic with cars parked on the side. Shortly thereafter, the neighbors No-Parking signs were gone, and they are replaced by one official one, meaning that the neighbor will be fined if he parks in front of his house. The neighbor has no garage or anywhere else to park his car... A very satisfying petty revenge!

Makes for some great reading, but sadly a lot of very uncomfortable situations like what your poor mother had to endure. Good work on getting the street resorted so his ownership of the street could come to a close....
